Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubón accepted Rawlings Gold Glove Awards on Sunday night for their defensive play during the 2026 season. The two Atlanta Braves became the first pair of teammates to win the honor in the same year since Max Fried and Dansby Swanson did so in 2022.
Olson, a 32-year-old first baseman, earned his fourth career Gold Glove. He finished ahead of San Diego Padres first baseman Ty France and Colorado Rockies first baseman T.J. Rumfield. Olson is now one of only three active first basemen with four such awards, joining Christian Walker and Paul Goldschmidt. He appeared in all 162 games this year, leading all Major League first basemen in innings played. His defensive metrics included 12 Outs Above Average and 12 fielding run value, while he ranked second in Defensive Runs Saved with 11.
Dubón, also 32, won his third Gold Glove, this time in the utility category. He has won the award three times in five years since Rawlings introduced the position in 2022, making him the only multi-time winner in that role. Two of those wins came with the Houston Astros in the American League. Dubón is the first player from Atlanta to take the utility honor. He started 75 games in left field, 51 at shortstop, 14 in center field, five at third base and four at second base this season.
The voting process for the awards combines human judgment with statistical data. Managers and up to six coaches from each team cast ballots that account for 75% of the total vote, with the rule that they cannot select their own players. The remaining 25% is determined by the SABR Defensive Index, a formula that measures range, arm strength and fielding reliability. A separate calculation of this index decides the utility winner.
The awards extend a long run of defensive success for the Braves franchise. The team has claimed 12 Gold Gloves across seven of the last nine seasons dating back to 2018. Other Braves players were finalists this year but did not win. Left-hander Chris Sale and center fielder Michael Harris II were edged out by New York Mets pitcher Nolan McLean and Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.
The full list of 2026 Gold Glove winners in the National League includes Nolan McLean, Gabriel Moreno, Matt Olson, Brice Turang, Alex Bregman, Geraldo Perdomo, Jackson Chourio, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Corbin Carroll and Mauricio Dubón. In the American League, the winners are Tanner Bibee, Dillon Dingler, Christian Walker, Cole Young, Caleb Durbin, Taylor Walls, Cody Bellinger, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu and Ezequiel Duran.
