BYD Yangwang has confirmed that its new ultra-luxury electric sedan will make its global debut in the United Arab Emirates. The decision bypasses the manufacturer's home market in China, marking a distinct shift in launch strategy for the brand's top-tier model. General manager Hu Xiaoqing revealed the plan this week, though the company has not yet announced a specific day for the event.

Rumored pricing places the vehicle in the 2 million yuan range, which converts to approximately $300,000. This price point sits well above the brand's current portfolio. The U7 electric sedan starts at 658,000 yuan, or about $98,000. The U8L plug-in hybrid off-road SUV, currently the most expensive mass-produced Yangwang vehicle, begins at 1.45 million yuan, or $217,000.

The new sedan measures approximately 5,500 mm, or 216 inches, in length. This dimension aligns the car with ultra-luxury competitors such as the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The vehicle is designed to challenge established luxury marques, including Bentley and Rolls-Royce, for buyers in the executive segment.

Hu Xiaoqing released images of the prototype undergoing testing last month. Despite heavy camouflage, the vehicle displayed rear-hinged coach doors, a feature new to the BYD lineup. The sedan was also photographed at a BYD Flash Charging station, indicating likely support for megawatt flash charging technology.

Zheng Yu, the executive general manager for Yangwang, stated that the model will feature "unprecedented disruptive technology." He did not provide detailed specifications for the new systems. The car is reportedly the first model to utilize the company's solid-state batteries. Executive vice president Stella Li previously told Carwow.es that BYD's first solid-state battery vehicle would debut in 2027.

Yangwang operates as the top sub-brand within BYD's hierarchy, sitting above Denza and FangChengBao. The brand showcases the group's newest engineering, including the quad-motor e4 platform and the DiSus-X intelligent body control system. Earlier models in the lineup, such as the U9 electric super-coupe, have demonstrated these advanced capabilities.
