Local music fans can expect a return to the early 2000s indie rock scene this winter as Tampa Bay venues host a series of upcoming concerts. Among the lineup, veteran songwriter Pete Yorn is leading the charge with a solo acoustic tour designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut album.

Yorn, now 52 years old, took to TikTok and other social media platforms to announce the tour. The project marks a quarter century since the release of Musicforthemorningafter in March 2001. That 14-track record, which ran just under an hour, became a staple in the disc changers of American Apparel-wearing listeners across the United States. It traversed rock, pop, and folk, offering a poetic reflection on the pre-Great Recession lifestyle for a generation of late Gen X fans.

To mark the milestone, the artist released a deluxe digital version of the album. The new package features live versions of songs recorded at Jack White’s Third Man Records in Nashville. This move underscores the album's enduring legacy in the indie rock genre, a label that predates its widespread commercial adoption on iTunes.

The tour coincides with a busy schedule for the Tampa Bay area, which hosts diverse acts from the mid-November through March. On November 14, SunSquabi, Phyphr, and Side Trakd will perform at Bayboro Brewing in St. Petersburg. Tickets for that show are priced at $36.17.

December brings In Her Own Words and Rematch to the New World Music Hall in Tampa on December 6. The venue also hosts Youth Fountain with Pretty Pity on February 11, and Hot Freaks on February 12. Both events are scheduled for 7 p.m. with tickets starting at $27.51.

January offers a mix of classic rock and tribute acts. Donna The Buffalo plays the Bilheimer Capitol Theater in Clearwater on January 3, while a Fleetwood Mac tribute act called Rumours ATL appears there on January 29. The Doobie Brothers will perform at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on January 11, with tickets available for $121.50 and up.

February features high-profile acts including Greta Van Fleet with Arc De Soleil and Edgehill at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa on February 5. Paul Anka will close the winter run at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on March 19, with tickets starting at $75.30.
