Ten downtown Corpus Christi streets will be closed to vehicle traffic this Saturday for the 19th annual Día de los Muertos Street Festival. The event is free to the public and operates from 1 p.m. to midnight. Organizers have set up a community ofrenda, an altar where families can honor deceased relatives. The holiday tradition focuses on remembering loved ones and celebrating their lives.

The festival grounds will feature live music, art installations, food vendors, and cultural performances. This gathering anchors a weekend schedule that includes several Halloween-themed events across the Coastal Bend region. The street closure impacts the downtown core, where the community altar serves as the central point for remembrance activities.

Simultaneously, the Villain Invasion Halloween Fest will occupy the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina on both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees at this venue can meet actors from horror films, enter costume contests, and participate in gaming tournaments. Weekend passes begin at $20, with free admission for children aged 12 and under. Visitors who bring two nonperishable food items for the Coastal Bend Food Bank will receive a special-edition event poster, subject to availability.

Earlier in the day, Water's Edge Park hosts the Monster Mash Cupcake Dash on Saturday morning. Participants can register for a 5K, a 10K, or a 2-mile walk. Runners are encouraged to dress up, and every finisher receives a cupcake. Proceeds from the race support Family Counseling Services, a provider of mental health care in the region.

Quieter options include family pumpkin painting at Asbury Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Families can purchase a pumpkin from the church's patch, which remains open through Halloween, and decorate it on-site. A new event, Hocus Pocus Corpus, debuts Saturday at the Hilliard Center from noon to 3 p.m. This free gathering offers trick-or-treating, door prizes, a community resource fair, and a presentation on renters' rights.
