Meridian crews close westbound McMillan Road for final sewer repairs
Two separate construction projects now affect traffic along the corridor, with the ACHD intersection work finishing first.

Westbound traffic on McMillan Road is currently blocked near McDermott Street.
The city of Meridian has begun the third and final phase of the Can Ada Lift Station project. This work expands local sewer infrastructure to handle population growth. Drivers must detour around the closed stretch, while the road remains open with lane restrictions closer to the intersection.
At the same time, the Ada County Highway District is upgrading the McMillan and McDermott intersection. Crews are installing a new traffic signal and adding dedicated left-turn lanes. The project also includes improvements for pedestrian safety.
Matt Degan, who works with the construction efforts, noted that the new pedestrian features will help people cross more safely. He stated, "I think also the pedestrian improvements will make it safer for pedestrians to cross."
Local residents have watched the area change rapidly. Fred and Mary Roberts moved to the neighborhood two years ago. Fred Roberts described the development as growing "like crazy." His wife Mary Roberts added that two entire new neighborhoods have appeared since they arrived. She described the change as "leaps and bounds."
The Roberts couple views the construction as a necessary step for their expanding community. Fred Roberts called the road work a "temporary inconvenience" but said they are glad the streets are being maintained. He pointed to a new crosswalk that replaced a patch of grass and weeds as evidence of progress. Mary Roberts noted that the influx of new residents has also strengthened community ties.
The ACHD expects to finish the intersection improvements in early November. The city plans to complete the final phase of the sewer project by December 4.
