Kandice Gunter, 30, died Sunday morning after her pickup truck broke through a guardrail on a steep mountain road in Wyoming.
First responders located Gunter around 9:20 a.m. along Wyoming Highway 251 near Lookout Point. Her vehicle had tumbled down the hillside, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. As the only person in the car, she was identified by the Natrona County Coroner’s Office.
Gunter had been reported missing to Casper police on Thursday evening, Oct. 29. Officers asked the public to watch for her gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup. Her phone had last tracked near the Natrona County line on Wyoming Highway 387 on Friday afternoon, which directed the search efforts.
The Casper Police Department stated that the crash circumstances and cause of death remain under investigation. Officials reported no evidence of foul play or the involvement of another person. The wreck forced authorities to reduce traffic on the mountain road to a single lane while recovery crews worked the slope.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene on Sunday. The Casper Police Department, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, and Wyoming Highway Patrol coordinated with Casper Fire-EMS and the Natrona County Fire Protection District to manage the site.
