Wyoming voters began casting ballots at 7 a.m. on November 2, 2026, for the midterm elections that will determine the composition of Congress and state offices. Polls remain open until 7 p.m. on Election Day, with a strict requirement that every voter present valid identification to state officials.
The election cycle places all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and one third of the 100 U.S. Senate seats on the ballot. These federal races run alongside contests for state, county, and city offices, as well as proposed propositions that will appear on local ballots across the state.
State law dictates that voters must provide a specific form of government-issued or institutional ID before their ballots are counted. Acceptable documents include a Wyoming driver's license or ID card, a tribal ID card, a valid U.S. passport, or a U.S. military card. Voters may also use a driver's license from another state, a student ID from the University of Wyoming, a Wyoming community college, or a Wyoming public school.
Additional accepted forms of identification include a valid Medicare insurance card, a valid Medicaid insurance card, or a valid Wyoming concealed firearm permit. The Secretary of State's Office advises voters to confirm their specific document eligibility and verify their registration status prior to arriving at their designated polling place.
Voters who are not yet registered must complete the registration process at their polling location on Election Day. To locate the correct site, residents can use the polling place locator tool provided by the Wyoming Secretary of State's Office or contact their local County Clerk's Office. The locator tool requires a home address to display the specific building where a resident is assigned to vote.
Once a polling place is identified, voters can access a sample ballot for their district. This document lists every candidate and proposition on the ballot, allowing residents to review options and prepare their votes before arriving at the polls.
The midterm election occurs halfway through the four-year presidential term and determines the partisan balance in Congress. This balance influences the legislative agenda and the ability of the President to enact policies during the remainder of the term.
