Diana Horun, 23, died in Donetsk Oblast after a Russian drone strike killed her. The senior combat medic was serving on a contract with the armed forces when the attack occurred.

Born in 2003 in the village of Hnizdychiv in Lviv Oblast, Horun held the rank of senior combat medic. She was assigned to a strike unmanned aerial vehicle company. The Hnizdychiv hromada confirmed her death.

A local official described Horun's decision to serve as a brave choice of a difficult path. The official stated she did not stand idly by but took upon herself the responsibility of defending Ukraine. This choice demonstrated her courage, strength of spirit, and big heart, according to the tribute.

Fellow soldiers shared their memories on social media. One sister-in-arms posted on Threads that Horun was the best medic she had ever known. The woman wrote that they were already avenging her and would remember her. Another brother-in-arms described Horun as ambitious with a beautiful soul. He noted that despite hardships in her life, she kept hope and positivity in her heart. He said he would miss their philosophical conversations and her crazy laughter.

Horun was one of several Ukrainian service members killed recently. Poet and soldier Oleksii Dehtiarov also died in action. Both soldiers were serving in the front lines during the ongoing conflict.
