Organizers announced that Bruce Springsteen will headlining the 20th anniversary of the Stand Up for Heroes benefit concert, scheduled for Nov. 9 at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. The event will also include singer Alex Warren and The Resilient, a band comprised of wounded U.S. combat veterans.

The comedy segment of the program features Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj, and Josh Johnson of "The Daily Show." This gathering is being presented by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival, which operates from Nov. 6 to 15.

The benefit originated in 2007 following the serious injury of ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff during reporting in Iraq in 2006. Woodruff and his wife, Lee, collaborated with New York Comedy Festival founders Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox to create the event. Their goal was to blend comedy, music, and military service stories into a single showcase.

Bob Woodruff reflected on the event's evolution in a statement, noting that the group initially envisioned a one-time concert. He added that it has since become one of the most meaningful nights of the year. The foundation reports that the initiative has generated more than $113 million to support injured veterans, military families, and caregivers, while other reports place the total at $117 million.

Past editions of the concert have hosted a range of high-profile entertainers. These include Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, John Oliver, John Mulaney, Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Tickets for the Nov. 9 anniversary edition are currently available for purchase.
