President Donald Trump visited the Lincoln Memorial on Monday to showcase the completed repairs to the Reflecting Pool, a project he credited to the Interior Department.

The visit occurred one day before the 2026 midterm elections. Trump had recently concluded a campaign trail involving nearly 30 rallies. He used the event to deliver his final message to voters regarding the control of Congress.

The President stated that the pool is now more beautiful than it has ever been and expressed pride in the work performed by Interior officials. He also repeated claims that vandalism contributed to the need for the repairs.

In his remarks to voters, Trump described the upcoming vote as the most important in his lifetime. He criticized the Democratic Party for nominating what he called the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history.

Pollsters indicate that the high cost of living is the primary concern for voters in this cycle. Trump did not address that specific issue during his speech. Instead, he highlighted what he described as a strong and resilient U.S. economy.

The President acknowledged the historical trend where the party in power loses seats during midterm elections. Republicans currently hold a razor thin majority in Congress. Final polls point to strong Democratic success in the 2026 elections.
