Wisconsin women's tennis played two matches on Saturday and dropped no games.

The Badgers beat Bradley and then Green Bay, winning both encounters by a score of 7-0.

The results give Wisconsin a 6-0 record, marking the program's best start to a season since 1992.

Green Bay fielded only five players in the second match, a depth issue that limited its competitive threat.

Doubles play set the early tone. Freshman MaryAnn Rompf and senior Kelsey Grambeau defeated Theresa Tebon and Tallie Piaskowski 6-1.

Sophomore Melissa Pick and freshman Lexi Keberle followed with a 6-0 victory over Maria Neff and Samm Pedersen.

No Wisconsin singles player lost a set in either match.

Keberle won the first singles point against Tebon, 6-1, 6-1.

She is now 7-0 for the season across both singles and doubles events.

Rompf took the second singles match from Piaskowski, 6-3, 6-1.

Michelle Linden beat Sterre Tijssens 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.

Pick shut out Neff 6-0, 6-0, while Christina Zordani defeated Pedersen 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles to reach a 5-0 mark in singles this year. Head coach Kelcy McKenna attributed the results to the team's focus on controllable factors. "They did a great job with the controlables: their attitude, their effort and their energy," McKenna said. "Those three things are extremely important to our success." The coach noted that maintaining this level requires attention to daily drills and match simulations. "We need to do a little bit of a better job cleaning up our doubles in terms of serves and returns," McKenna said. She emphasized the need for the team to be aggressive and hit targeted spots on service plays. McKenna also stressed the importance of carrying doubles momentum into singles matches. "We have to make sure.. that we carry the momentum with us and try to be gritty and not give away free points," she said. The Badgers will next compete in the National Team Indoor Championship, scheduled for Feb. 9-12 at their home venue.
