Island Transit has updated its route map to include 38 specific destinations across Whidbey and Camano islands. The transit authority lists these locations as part of a fare-free bus system that runs on 30-to-60 minute intervals. The addition of these stops aims to provide direct access to recreational and commercial sites for visitors who do not drive.

The new list of stops covers a wide range of activities. In Central Whidbey, the bus reaches Bell's Farm and West Beach. North Whidbey stops include the Oak Harbor Waterfront Trail and Deception Pass State Park. South Whidbey locations feature the Mutiny Bay Distillery and South Whidbey State Park. On Camano Island, the routes serve Utsalady Point Park and Cama Beach State Park.

The transit system highlights a specific category for alcohol producers. The map lists the Whidbey Island Winery in Langley, Ott & Hunter Tasting Room in Langley, and Blooms Winery. It also includes the Penn Cove Pottery and the Mutiny Bay Distillery in Freeland. These stops are marketed to visitors seeking local spirits and food.

Accessibility is a key component of the new service. The list includes the ADA-accessible Clinton Beach Park and the Trillium Community Forest Trail. The transit authority notes that the West Camano Route stops near Utsalady Vista Point Park and Cama Beach State Park upon request. For those using wheelchairs or strollers, the system offers barrier-free options in various state parks.

Visitors arriving by ferry can connect directly to these routes. Island Transit stops at the Clinton ferry dock and just east of the Coupeville terminal. The authority provides free all-day and overnight parking within one mile of the ferry terminals in Port Townsend and Mukilteo. In Port Townsend, parking is available at 440 12th Street. In the Everett area, Everett Station at 3201 Smith Avenue offers free parking, with a note that drivers staying more than 48 hours must notify security.

Boaters and cyclists have specific connection points. Boaters can dock at Oak Harbor Marina, Langley Marina, or the Coupeville Wharf to catch bus routes. Cyclists can bring bikes on the bus, and several bus stops are located near the Oak Harbor Waterfront Trail. The transit authority encourages visitors to use the bus for shopping, dining, and sightseeing, citing the convenience of the fare-free service.
